Abdiwali Gooni Director of Communications & Mobilization, Puntland State House of Representatives, Puntland Parliament, communicates the political nature of the institution and the work carried out by its Members.
His core business is to raise awareness of the Puntland Parliament, its powers, its decisions, and activities among media, stakeholders and the general public, bringing the work of the Institution closer to citizens on both centralised and decentralised levels.
Before joining the Government of Puntland, Mr. Gooni has been working in media, & non-governmental sectors in Somalia.
Over 16 years of work experience with varied local and international organizations in different capacities and having worked in media and Public administration.
Previously, Abdiwali Gooni was Former Managing Director of Horseed Media based in Bosaso which advocates for peace and development in Somalia.
In 2009 – 2012 – he was Co-founder and Member of Board of Directors Media Association of Puntland (MAP).
In 2011-14, he was Coordinator of National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ)
Mr. Gooni holds Master of Arts in Criminology and Security Studies from Mount Kenya University. BA in International relations and Diplomacy from Cavendish University, Kampala, Uganda as well as countless complementary knowledge.
